One year ago, on September 30, 2023, we welcomed family, friends, and guests to the schoolyard in the village of Golyama Zhelyazna to officially present the initiative 'Sharena Zadruga' and its project for the establishment of the International School of Gastronomy & Heritage Crafts 'Sharena Fabrika'. One year later, the future complex is in the active phase of construction, which will focus the efforts of builders, architects, and the team over the next year and a half.

Construction activities began in March 2024, with a focus on the future culinary school. Today, it is in an advanced phase, with the structural framework reaching the middle of the building.
"New foundations have been completed for the entire building, along with reinforcement of the old structure and new frameworks for the future restaurant and café. The waterproofing and thermal insulation layers for the foundations are finished, and we are confidently moving toward the second floor," shares the project's lead architect, Alexander Vasilev.
"Bricks, wood, and stone have been preserved and will be reused — the bricks will be used for interior walls and cladding, the wood for wooden structures such as roofs, interiors, decorations, windowsills, and more, while the stone will be used for the fence and base cladding. We are working intensively, with a primary focus on preserving and reinforcing the existing structure of the school building. Our goal is to preserve as much of it as possible in order to maintain the authentic spirit of the school. The structures up to the second floor are already in their final stage, and very soon we will begin laying the slabs for this floor. Simultaneously, we are preparing for the installation of all new engineering systems - electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, with the process starting from the underground levels of the building," added the project manager, Dimitar Vasilev.

Construction activities are also being carried out in the building planned to be the Teachers' Residence, where everything necessary to shape the new layout has been completed.
The roof has been removed, drainage has been installed, and the site’s plumbing and electrical connections have been laid. The foundations have been waterproofed and thermally insulated, and the electrical installation has been mounted at the designated locations. Once the installation of the internal plumbing systems is completed, the walls will be closed, and we will move on to the next stage.
By the end of the year, it is planned to complete all activities related to the construction of the new reinforced concrete structure of the building, after which work will begin on the new roof structures. In parallel with these activities, the installation of all engineering systems on the floors will be carried out, ensuring synchronization between the different stages of construction.
The road is long, the work is plenty, but as the saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day."
